North End

North End is known to have the most European neighbourhoods in Boston. It boasts of Boston’s oldest inhabited community due to the fact that people have been living in the region incessantly since it was established in the 1630s.

The main factor that separated the North End from the rest of Boston was the erection of the elevated Central Artery during the 1950s. However with the Big Dig reaching its completion the elevated highway was entirely removed and the North End was connected with the rest of the city.

Most of North Ends architecture dates from the latter part of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century. The Old North Church the PierceHichborn House the Paul Revere House and the Clough House are some of the finest architectural masterpieces found in North End.
