One of the longest established attractions in the area is Chester Zoo which has been thrilling visitors for generations. The zoo is home to a staggering 7000 creatures including orangutans Asian elephants rare exotic fish all kinds of reptiles bats and strange insects this is Britains number one charity owned zoo.
If you still have not had your fill of wildlife try the Blue Planet Aquarium is an entertaining collection of all kinds of marine creatures including no less than 20 shark species the aquarium is also home to the famous Aquatheatre and the Otter Enclosure.
For athletic types Northgate Arena is one of the regions finest leisure facilities offering a huge array of sporting activities. If you prefer to sit and relax while enjoying your sports the town is also home to one of the countrys premier horse racing tracks with meetings at least a couple of times each week.
If you have chosen the town as your country wedding venue Chester can offer more romantic and relaxing entertainment such as strolling along the towns famous and very historic Roman Wall. A two thousand year old defensive structure that is well worth exploring almost uniquely it still encircles the entire city with access to walking the walls are the four main gates Northgate Bridgegate Watergate and Eastgate as well as the Dewa Roman Experience a recreation of Roman life in the area.
A little more up to date entertainment is Laser Quasar a family fun adventure involving several laser based activities such as laser tag. For the little ones there is the miniature railway in Grosvenor Park winding through a quarter of a mile of the parks scenic beauty.
For the shop till you drop crowd Chester offers over 1000 outlets including Chester Market The Mall Grosvenor and Rufus Court with many one off non chain shops offering unusual and quality items of all kinds.
Another leisure facility Chester has on offer in the main waterway running through the town and beyond the River Dee. The river is a wonderful place to amble on a sunny afternoon taking in the unspoilt scenery and enjoyed the ambience.
There are also cruises that vary from short guided trips to longer more in depth tours of the river there are even weekend nighttime theme cruises. All of which have proved popular with those who have chosen the town as a wedding venue Chester has so many things to do and see especially if you choose to stay at a scenic country house hotel Chester is also a fine central location for exploring the surrounding countryside and other idyllic Cheshire towns.
